I am a novice when it comes to the Rasperberry Pi 2 which is what drew me to this book. It is an excellent beginners guide.It covers a wide range of subjects but is very clear and simple to follow along and understand. I went from complete novice to someone who feels some what comfortable now.
This book is a super reasonable price to pay to gain the knowledge and insight to be able to get Pi up and running and progress and complete different projects.
The terminology was easy to understand which is crucial for a beginner like myself, and was carefully explained throughout the entire book!
Would recommend 100%!

Good how to book, and well worth the money.
very interesting projects that are very informative - doesnt expect you to know everything already and is good at explaining things but doesnt treat you as a child either. goes into some pretty good detail on some of these projects. meaty.
one of the better raspberry pi beginners books that i have read. i'm STILL learning stuff from it - im going to try some more of Sargent's books...
nice to find something other than just how to plug the darn gadget in...
Very good for beginners.
Being a new Raspberry Pi owner, I was looking for an easy to read user guide to get the most out of my new purchase, and I am so happy that I discovered this book. The author writes in a clear and easy to read manner, and does not expect you to have a thorough prior knowledge.
The book starts with a brief introduction of the Pi, and model history before jumping into around 20 interesting and fun to take on projects. While some like the Playstation emulator were probably out of my league, the media server was simple to set up and use, and I now have it running my home media network. My son has been playing with the book, and is trying out some of the other projects too.
I think this book would be great for any novice, or experienced owner of a Raspberry Pi, and it's easy to digest reading provides clear instructions to master the next challenge. For the small price, it has already given me much greater use of my Pi, and I look forward to the next volume with even more projects! -)
As a new Raspberry Pi owner, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how helpful this book was. As many of you may know, some beginner guides can be confusing and expensive. I loved how clear and easy to follow this guide was, in comparison to others on the market.
In addition to the easy to read instructions and helpful tips, I thought the projects were laid out really well, progressing from simple to more advanced. It built my confidence up before tackling anything too difficult. Plus, I found that additional purchases weren't necessary to complete the projects, which was great. Being a total beginner, I didn't want to have to purchase anything else.
This is an essential introduction for any new Raspberry Pi owner who is looking for a basic understanding of what a Pi is, how to get it up and running, how to tweak and maintain it, and what it can be used for. For a extremely reasonable price, you can save yourself a lot of time and frustration, and significantly enhance your experience.
